Tenure Track Position Open in Michigan

The Department of Earth and Resource Science (ERS) at the University of Michigan – Flint
invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to
begin August 1, 2013. The University of Michigan-Flint is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative
Action Institution. The candidate will direct and promote a newly developed departmental
interdisciplinary Integrated Science Teaching certification program, and assist with the UM
– Flint NCATE accreditation process. We seek an Earth Scientist specializing in Physical
Geography, Geoscience, or Biogeography. We will also consider applicants from other
Earth Science related sub-fields. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory courses
in Physical Geography, Weather and Climate, Geomorphology, as well as courses in the
candidate’s area of expertise. Individuals with interdisciplinary background that complement
existing departmental strengths are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must have
a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching education and must exhibit the potential for
teaching excellence, and ability to participate in a future Master’s Program in Integrated Science
Teaching to begin in 2014. Support is also provided for ongoing pedagogical and disciplinary
research. Candidate will be expected to engage in a relevant program of research and contribute
engaged service to the Department, College, University and community. Our university has
state of the art classrooms and computing facilities, and is part of the University of Michigan

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geography, Geology or a related discipline. ABD will be
