Summary of Grant The objective of the PhD Student Research Grant program is to assist PhD students registered in a recognized program at a PhD-degree granting institution in any country who is undertaking research in an area of geochemistry to acquire geochemical analyses in support of the student’s dissertation research. Beginning in 2011, student research grants are generously supported by Elsevier. Pathways Geospatial Courses for the Spring

Geospatial Technology (Spatial analysis and Modelling) are important tools for any study that has a strong spatial component. Bronx Community College in collaboration with the BCC Geospatial Center of the CUNY CREST Institute (BGCCCI) www.bcc.cuny.edu/geospatial/   is offering two  PATHWAYS  courses in geospatial technology. Any CUNY student may enroll in them through the e-permit facility. The credits they earn after successfully completing the course requirements will seamlessly transfer to any other CUNY college! NCALM SEED Proposal Request due 12/22

The National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping surveys up to ten projects every year (each generally covering no more than 40 km2) for graduate student PIs who desire Airborne Laser Swath Mapping (ALSM) data. Students can also request high resolution aerial photography in conjunction with the ALSM collection. Graduate student proposals must define a basic research question in the geosciences (broadly defined). ESS faculty member Brian Rosa of Queens College is a 2017 recipient of the Henry Wasser Award for CUNY Assistant Professors from the CUNY Academy for the Humanities and Sciences.  Congratulations Professor Rosa! As an interdisciplinary urban researcher, Rosa draws on his training as a city planner (MRP Cornell, 2009) and human geographer (PhD Manchester, 2014). Through an examination of the changing built environments of cities, Rosa explores the interwoven social, cultural, political, and economic contexts of urban (re)development, particularly in the context of post-industrial urban spaces and sites of contested urban heritage.
