The Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) is looking for an Associate Professor / Professor in Environmental Governance.
Area of responsibility
The Department seeks a creative and dedicated scholar in the field of Environmental Governance, with broad international experience, preferably including both the global South and the global North.
The Associate Professor/Professor is expected to pursue independent, critical scholarship and to engage in education, research and interdisciplinary cooperation. All members of staff are expected to play a part in or lead activities in order to generate external income from research grants, institutional cooperation and assignments. The candidate will have a special responsibility for the strengthening and profiling of environmental governance as a field of collaboration across the departments and research groups of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which include landscape planning, environment and development studies and economics.
Central tasks
- To carry out research on environmental governance at local, national and international scale
- To promote the field within the Faculty and University
- To teach and supervise at Bachelor’s, Master’s and possibly PhD level
- To lead and participate in research funding applications
- To contribute to or lead inter-departmental, national and international networking institutional cooperation and assignments
Required qualifications:
- A doctoral degree and distinguished research and publication record in a relevant social science such as: political science, geography, sociology, political economy or economics.
- International and interdisciplinary research experience in environmental governance, international environmental relations or environmental policy processes.
- Teaching experience at university level
- A high level of proficiency in English, the working language of the Department
Remuneration
- Associate Professor; NOK 613.500 to NOK 710.400 per year (ca. $ 82 000 to $95 000)
- Professor; NOK 675.500 to NOK 895.900 per year (ca $ 90 350 to $120 000) depending on qualifications.
