Assistant Professor of Geography @kentstate (Non-tenure track, 9 month position)

Kent State University at Stark is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, nine-month position beginning in August 2019 as an Assistant Professor of Geography. We seek an environmental geographer with GIS skills who can contribute to a small but active program that includes both a new major in Environmental Studies and a Geography minor.

Examples of Duties:Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

A full-time non-tenure-track appointment typically requires a teaching load of 30 hours per academic year and the expectation of teaching excellence; professional development and campus and community service are also valued. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting and sustaining both the Geography and Environmental Studies program.

Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D. in Geography is required by the time of appointment and evidence of teaching excellence at the university level. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute course offerings in physical geography, GIS, conservation and sustainability. Preferred candidates will have a regional expertise outside of the United States and Canada.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
