The Department of Earth and Resource Science (ERS) at the University of Michigan – Flint invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin August
1, 2013. The University of Michigan-Flint is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Institution.
The candidate will direct an Integrated Science Teaching certification program. We seek an Earth
Scientist specializing in Physical Geography, Natural Resources, or another Earth Science-related field.
Teacher preparation, experience with K-12 settings, and STEM experience are preferred. Instructional
responsibilities are likely to include introductory courses in Physical Geography, Weather and Climate,
Hydrology, and a Science Teaching Methods Course, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of
expertise. Individuals with an interdisciplinary background that complements existing departmental
strengths are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to
undergraduate teaching education and must exhibit the potential for teaching excellence, and ability to
participate in a future Master’s Program in Integrated Science Teaching to begin in 2014. Support is
also provided for ongoing pedagogical and disciplinary research, as the candidate will be expected to
engage in a relevant program of research and contribute engaged service to the Department, College,
University and community. Our university has state of the art classrooms and computing facilities, and
