DESCRIPTION:
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) of Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) invites applications from qualified and interested candidates for a position in Geography and Social Science Methodology as of Fall 2019.

Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include teaching undergraduate-level courses in Geography (introductory courses in Human Geography and Physical Geography), and qualitative research methods. The candidate will hold regular office hours and participate in extracurricular activities on a regular basis (e.g., school committees, community service, etc.). Scholarly research and service to SHSS and to the university are expected. Target students come from a variety of disciplines and majors across the university.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Ph.D. in Geography or a related field.
2. While teaching is conducted in English, a working knowledge of Arabic and/or French is highly recommended.
3. Experience in syllabus design and course development.
4. Well-developed interpersonal skills with past success in working effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary and collegial team.

Desirable:

1. Experience in the American liberal arts system.

AUI offers reasonable teaching loads and a compensation package that includes: housing with basic furniture (or housing allowance); medical insurance; tuition waiver at AUI for dependent children and spouses (conditions apply); subsidized tuition at the AUI School for children of full time faculty; research funding; retirement plan (after two years of service); alternate summers for research (after two years of service); and an initial one year contract renewable by mutual consent, with the possibility of a permanent contract after two years of service.
