Dr. Kessler is an Assistant Professor for Geographic Information Science at the Department of Geography at Hunter College, City University of New York and Associate Director of the Center for Advanced Research of Spatial Information. Before he moved to New York in fall 2013, he was a post-doc researcher at Institute for Geoinformatics, University of Münster, Germany. He was part of the Semantic Interoperability Lab, where he used to coordinate the LODUM and LIFE projects. He has also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr. Donovan is faculty in the Department of Communication and Media Studies as well as an affiliate faculty member of the New Media and Digital Design Program, Urban Studies Program, and Urban Law Center at Fordham University. His research explores the mutual shaping of people, place, and proprietary media, and how to reorient such shaping toward more just and meaningful publics. He is also also a researcher at the Public Science Project, a founder of the OpenCUNY Academic Medium, and co-editor of Issue 5 of The Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy: Media and Methods for Opening Education. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Psychology with a doctoral certification in Interactive Technology and Pedagogy from the CUNY Graduate Center.
