The Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach course(s) in The Department of Geography for the upcoming openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department.

Positions percentage times may range. The salary is based on UC’s salary scales and dependent upon qualifications. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Main duties include teaching upper-division and lower-division courses. The candidate should be interested and experienced in teaching in lab and lecturer-oriented classes.

Basic qualifications: The minimum qualifications required to be an applicant are 2 years of teaching experience in any area of Geography and a PhD in Geography or related field (required at the time of application).

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching in one or more areas of physical or human geography, or geographic information science.

The department of Geography is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
