SF Federal Reserve is hiring a Senior Researcher in Community Development

About This Position: The Senior Researcher will conduct research across a range of CD issues, with a particular focus on exploring innovations in the use of data (both quantitative and qualitative) to identify emerging trends in LMI communities. The Senior Researcher will be responsible for several significant efforts for the SF Fed’s community development department:

*   Innovations in community development data: The Senior Researcher will be responsible for conducting an analysis of existing data tools and indices to identify and implement opportunities for field innovation in the identification and use of actionable community development data.
*   Independent research: The CD department explores a variety of topics such as equitable development, healthy communities, and community development finance and the Senior Researcher will be responsible for conducting independent applied research that supports the broader mission of the department.
*   Research support for the CD department: The Senior Researcher will also be responsible for providing occasional research support to department efforts, such as producing charts and maps on community development indicators or doing analysis of emerging trends in topics such as consumer credit or employment.

Qualifications:

*   PhD in economics, planning, geography, public policy, or related discipline  plus a minimum of 2 years of work experience in community development, government, finance, research, or related
*   Demonstrated strong interest in community and economic development issues, including neighborhood poverty, affordable housing, education, immigration, health, small business lending, transportation, and community development finance
*   Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and creative skills
*   Proficiency with computer programs, including all of Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated experience with GIS software and statistical analysis programs such as SAS or STATA
*   Experience with qualitative surveys or interviews desired, including qualitative data analysis
