EES graduate Dr. Anna Paltseva wins the Graduate Center Award for Excellence in Teaching

Our very own Dr. Anna Paltseva has been chosen as the recipient of this year’s Graduate Center Award for Excellence in Teaching, the GC’s teaching award for doctoral students!  Anna recently defended her dissertation, “Lead and Arsenic Contamination in Urban Soils in New York City,” under the supervision of Prof. Joshua Cheng at Brooklyn College.  She has taught a variety of classes including Earth Dynamics, Introduction to Environmental Sciences, Environmental Aspects of Urban Soils, Geographic Information Systems, and Green Infrastructure at Brooklyn College, New York Botanical Gardens, NYU, and more.
As Associate Provost Olan writes, “This award recognizes the work that our doctoral students contribute to CUNY through their teaching on the campuses, as well as your own distinction as an exemplary teacher.  Your nomination materials, combined with recommendations from your students, impressed the committee with regard to the thoroughness and rigor of your teaching, your thoughtfulness about teaching, and your understanding of the students in your classes.”  The award is accompanied by a $1000 prize.
Congratulations to Anna!
